MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
From the desk of Stephen Brush, PRCA President
In my brief tenure as the PRCA President I have looked at the myriad of issues affecting our community and how the PRCA can best address them. I have come to appreciate the past success of this body as well as the challenges it faces in the near and immediate future. The one constant in all of this is change. It’s a theme that I’m certain you will see, directly, or indirectly, in every article and section of this newsletter.
A quick look at northern and southern boundaries reveals the current and future developments taking place in and around our community. Construction for CVS on the site of the old Pine Ridge Exxon will begin soon. The number of motorists using Prosperity Avenue for their morning or evening commute is greater than ever. These drivers choose to use Prosperity Avenue. For most residents of Pine Ridge, Prosperity Avenue is a necessary part of any commute to and from our homes. There are also major changes pending for Eakin Park and the PRCA will have a significant role in the determining what and where the improvements will be.
Those are just some of the changes affecting Pine Ridge from the outside but it’s imperative that the PRCA recognizes the changes that have occurred within our community. Your new neighbor is just as likely to come from a different country as they are a different state or town. There are not many single car, single income homes anymore either. If you have children, and even if you don’t, I don’t need to mention the long list of groups and organizations vying for your time and attention. It is imperative that the PRCA recognize these changes and seek ways to adapt and improve our processes and approach as an organization. We have already reduced our board meetings to semi-monthly and we are currently seeking to include one or more email addresses for each of residencies in Pine Ridge so we can become less reliant on printed newsletters and announcements.
In summation, if you are new to Pine Ridge, welcome. I hope you will consider supporting the PRCA by becoming a member and also volunteering to help as needed.
If you are currently a member, I encourage you to renew your membership. There are so many important issues we are committed to addressing and we are committed to addressing them with everyone’s involvement and input.
